About Kent Dance. . .
Welcome to those of you who have joined the Kent Dance Society for the first time this year, and hello again to those of you who can't get enough of us!
As you may or may not know, Kent Dance is one of the BIGGEST societies on campus, and is therefore a great way of meeting people whilst doing something you love! We believe we offer something for everybody; from those of you who want to start from the very beginning, to those who are already a pro and want to carry on dancing at a high standard.
Having a dance with your mates is a great way to keep fit and healthy, and let’s face it its more fun than going to the gym! Come along in the Autumn Term to take part in Jazz, Tap (with Tap Dogs!), Ballet, Irish Dance, Modern/Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop classes, taught by our highly talented teachers. Take part in an old favourite, return to a dance style you've not done for years, or be brave and try something new! We hold separate classes for beginners and advanced dancers, in some styles, so you can learn at a pace that suits you.
Now gentlemen, we have a healthy interest from the males around campus. So don't be put off by thinking this is a girly society... some of our ladies will drink you lot under the table! If you think you're man enough for this society, then we would love you to come prove it! With a guy on the committee this year, our lovely Christian, you can be sure that there will be a lot of interest from other lads, so please don't hesitate to get involved.
Each year we hold our Kent Dance Show, and though we don't like to brag(!), it is always a complete sell out! Absolutely everyone in the society is able to get involved, whether it is through choreographing a dance, performing your socks off, or helping backstage.
We also take part in showcases, and charity events throughout the year. This year, for the first time ever, we are going to enter into competitions... and of course we are going to win! So check back for more information about how to get involved.
Don't forget to take a look at the committee, they are a friendly bunch. Don't hesitate to contact them if you have any questions, or if you just want to say hi. They don't get out much, so I'm sure it would make their day!
